A Michigan father is not winning any Dad of The Year awards after he called the cops on his 16-year-old daughter when he discovered a marijuana plant growing in her bedroom closet. Troy, MI police say they were called to the home at 11:25 a.m on Halloween. The production and sale of marijuana has been a popular family business for thousands of years and continues to be a family trade for some despite it’s illegal status. The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office announced the bust of one such family that is accused of tranporting $2.5 million dollars worth of marijuana from Yonkers, NY into the Easton, PA area. From there the marijuana was allegedly broken down and distributed across Kutztown University. (more…)
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department made the largest marijuana bust in department history after a routine traffic netted 25,000 pounds. A patrol officer pulled over a 18-wheel truck on northbound Interstate 15 near Temecula, California for an illegal lane change. A subsequent search of the trailer uncovered boxes of marijuana from front to back. The driver of the truck, an unidentified adult male, was taken into custody by the DEA.
Police estimated the bust at $10 million wholesale and $25 million street value.
A Tennessee man was arrested after multiple police agencies along with the United States Postal Service conducted a “controlled delivery” of a package containing 15 pounds of marijuana. After the delivery police raided the home and arrested 25-year-old Bret Rayburn, of Collegedale, Tennessee on charges of possession of marijuana for resale. Police found firearms and drug paraphernalia during the raid, and also decided to seize a 1984 BMW for unspecified investigative reasons (police auction). (more…)
Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators have arrested two people after busting a “pot canyon” containing 7,621 marijuana plants. The garden was hidden with overgrown vegetation and was found in Sycamore Canyon near Diamond Bar, California 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Deputies arrested 33-year-old Francisco Rios and 31-year-old Brigido Ambriz near the garden for possession of a loaded and concealed firearm. Police believe the two are connected but say charges will depend on how much evidence ties them directly to the marijuana. Deputies would not disclose how they found out about the garden, only saying that they had been investigating the case for about a month. (more…)
